Chopsticks amok - a Thai inspired Yee Sang at Samira by Asian Terrace

With Chinese new year approaching in a few days, Yiga and I were invited to sample a special Chinese New year menu offered by Samira by Asian Terrace, a Thai restaurant which is located at Sentul Park next door to the Kuala Lumpur Performing Arts Centre (KLPAC).

I haven't partaken in Yee Sang for many, many years so I was quite eager to have the opportunity to try it out.

Seeking the Sacred: Thaipusam

In Kuala Lumpur, we've been gearing up for the upcoming public holidays that honor the richness and diversity of Malaysian life, namely Thaipusam and Chinese New Year.  Malaysians and expats alike adore this festive season that this year, per the Tamil and Lunar calendars respectively, follow so closely on the heels of Christmas and New Years.

Even if you've previously visited, or even lived in India as I have, you'll likely be caught off guard by the the staggering grandeur of devotion on display during the holy Hindu holiday of Thaipusam.  It's beautiful, it's overwhelming, and it draws you in closely, pressed tight against the saffron clad bodies of Lord Sri Murugan's devotees.

KL Culture Vultures Explore Ilham Art Gallery!

Just the other day Yiga and I visited the new Ilham Gallery which is located in the rather swanky Ilham Tower in Jalan Binjai, central Kuala Lumpur.  There seems to be a plethora of new skyscrapers in town, this one is unique in that it includes a free art gallery which is open to the public.

I am no art expert but I do enjoy feasting my eyes on different pieces of art from time to time and also to embroil myself in a bit of culture!
